John Butler is fondly remembered by family and friends as a true gentleman, someone whose kindness, humour, and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His beloved wife, Agatha, and their daughters, Siobhán, Sharon, Sinéad, and Clodagh, will forever cherish the memories of his unwavering love and support. John’s adoring grandchildren will always recall his warmth, his playful spirit, and the laughter he brought to every family gathering. His sisters, Mary and Sr. Patricia, along with nephews Brian and Eugene, take pride in the life he lived, filled with love and dedication.
John had a unique ability to bring people together, no matter where life took him. From his early days in Ferrybank, to his time in Powerscourt Lawns, and later at Keatingstown House, Kilkenny, his presence was a source of joy and comfort. He was more than a family man; John was an integral part of his community, always ready with a smile, a story, or a helping hand. His wonderful neighbors and many friends will miss his thoughtful nature and the brightness he brought into their lives.
In every conversation, John’s humour shone through, lifting the spirits of those around him. Whether sharing stories with friends or spending time with his family, he was known for his ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated. His legacy is one of love, kindness, and laughter, and he will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Late of The Lodge, Keatingstown House R95X3T9, Kilkenny, formerly of Kenure Avenue, Powerscourt Lawns, and formerly of Ferrybank, Waterford City. John passed peacefully and unexpectedly at his home, on Tuesday the 8th of October 2024 RIP.
John is predeceased by his beloved grandsons Jonathan Fitzpatrick and Louis Lyttle; his sister Eileen Falconer, his niece Grace Falconer and his brothers-in-law Jim McNamara and Chris Falconer.
John will be sadly missed by his loving and heartbroken wife Agatha, his loving daughters Siobhán, Sharon, Sinéad and Clodagh; all his adoring grandchildren, his sisters Mary McNamara and Sr Patricia Butler, his sons-in-law and his nephews Brian and Eugene Falconer. He will be forever missed by all his relatives, extended family, wonderful neighbours and many many friends.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
John will be reposing at Keatingstown House, Kilkenny, R95X3T9 on Saturday the 12th of October, from 4pm to 6pm with prayers at 6pm.

John’s Requiem Mass will take place on Sunday, the 13th of October, at 1 pm at St. Canice’s Church, Kilkenny City. As per John’s wishes a private cremation ceremony will take place at a later date.
John’s Funeral cortege will arrive to the church at approximately 12:50pm for his Requiem Mass at 1pm.
