Family and friends recall Michael as a kind and gentle soul who was always ready to share a story or kind word. He was a devoted husband to Eileen and a loving father to Miriam and Deirdre. His granddaughter Isabel will remember him with warmth and affection, as will his wider family and all those whose lives he touched. Michael’s brother Dominick, along with his nieces, nephew, and sister-in-law, will forever cherish the memories of his gentle nature and unwavering kindness.
Michael’s dedication to the Guillamene Swimming Club and his time at Bell Lines reflect a life lived fully, with passion for his community and the friendships he forged over the years. Known for his love of the sea and his regular swims at the Guillamene, Michael will be deeply missed by his fellow swimmers, neighbours, and the many friends who knew him through his work and life in Tramore and Waterford City.

Michael passed peacefully at University Hospital Waterford surrounded by his loving family on Thursday the 19th of September 2024 RIP.
Michael will be sadly missed by his loving wife Eileen, his loving daughters Miriam and Deirdre; his adoring grandchild Isabel, his brother Dominick, his nieces Elaine, Sheena and Emma; his nephew Colin and his sister-in-law Phil Walsh and son-in-law Karim. He will be forever missed by all his relatives, extended family, wonderful neighbours and many many friends.
The Fardey family would like to thank with great appreciation all the members of staff in The Oak Ward and all the staff in University Hospital Waterford for the exceptional and loving care Michael received throughout his illness.

Michael will be reposing at Falconer’s Funeral Home, Riverstown, Tramore, Co. Waterford, on Sunday, the 22nd of September, from 3pm to 5pm.

Michael’s Requiem Mass will take place on Monday, the 23rd of September, at 10am at The Church of the Holy Cross, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Michael’s Funeral cortege will walk from Tramore Credit Union/Lodges Corner at approximately 09:40am (weather permitting) to arrive for his Requiem Mass at 10am.
