Family and friends remember Leo Murphy as the warm-hearted craftsman whose camera lens and framing tools brought countless memories to life. For over three decades, he dedicated himself to capturing weddings, christenings, graduations, and everyday milestones with an artist’s eye and genuine care. Whether guiding a nervous bride through her first portrait or sharing stories in his framing workshop, Leo’s gentle humour and easy smile made every encounter feel like a reunion. He was a devoted husband to Linda and a loving father to David and Gina, ever present to lend an ear, offer gentle encouragement, or spark laughter as he poured you a cup of tea.
Beyond his remarkable talent, Leo’s true gift was the way he made people feel seen and valued. His kindness shone through in every carefully composed photograph and every thoughtful suggestion for preserving a treasured print. In homes and businesses across Waterford, his work hangs as a testament to lives well lived by us all, and to his unwavering belief that our most precious moments deserve to be remembered with clarity and love. As you gather around your own framed memories, take a moment to recall Leo’s caring spirit and generous heart, and let his legacy of warmth inspire you. The family all hope his light will continue to shine in the stories we tell and the smiles we share.
Late of Knockboy, Co. Waterford. Leo passed on April 12th 2025. RIP.
A devoted husband to Linda, the best dad to David and Gina, and the greatest brother and uncle to the extended Murphy and Walsh families, he captured thousands of the happiest moments of people in Waterford, but he was definitely happiest when surrounded by his family, friends, and his framing.
So, raise a glass, look at photos you may have in your homes and businesses, and remember Leo as the kind, caring gentleman.
