Family and friends remember Catherine (Kitty) Lanigan as the kind of woman who made everyone feel at home. A lifelong resident of Old Crobally Road in Tramore, Kitty had a rare gift for conversation, whether on the road outside her house or over bingo at the Pond Road centre, she made time for people, and people made time for her. Predeceased by her husband Christy, her sisters Anna and Helen, and her beloved parents Jack and Ellen, Kitty remained the heart of her family through decades of love, laughter, and quiet strength. Her children Brian, Kevin, Triona, and Dermot recall her as their constant, steady in the storm and gentle in every moment. Kitty’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
Neighbours knew her as a true lady, full of warmth and humour. One tribute said, “Kitty was a lovely lady and always loved the craic and laugh she was great fun. Bed of heaven to you Kitty, may you rest easy.” while another wrote, “A truly lovely lady who always had a kind word for everyone she met.” Her long-standing friendships and deep roots in Tramore were reflected in the many fond memories shared in recent days, of chats on the road, memories of family holidays, and her generosity of spirit over many years. As she is laid to rest beside Christy, may her gentle soul find peace, and may her family feel lifted by the love she gave so freely to others.
