Family and friends remember Marion Cahill as a proud Tramore woman who lived with quiet strength, deep faith, and a warm heart. Together with her beloved husband Dermot, she ran a well-known shop on Main Street, where she became a familiar face and a kind word to many in the community. Marion raised her children, Diane, Vincent and Bernard, with love, values, and humour, and later doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with the same care. “She always loved the style going to Mass,” one neighbour fondly shared, and she never lost that gentle sparkle that made her both graceful and grounded.
She was a woman who made others feel at home. Whether on The Terrace where she kept a watchful eye over children playing, or later in St Joseph’s Home, where her wit and warmth made her beloved by staff and residents alike, Marion carried kindness with her. “She was a caring, kind and gentle neighbour,” one friend wrote, while another recalled her as “witty and always up for a laugh.” Living well into her later years, she remained sharp and independent in spirit, a matriarch remembered not just for her years, but for the light she brought into the lives around her. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
