Family and friends remember Monica Jacob (née Griffin) as a gracious, kind-hearted woman whose strength and warmth touched generations. A devoted wife to the late Larry and a cherished mother to Toinette, Peter, and Paul, Monica lived a life centred around her family and her community. From her days raising a busy household in St. John’s Park to her cherished times in Ballymacaw, Monica had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued. Her wit, elegance, and quiet strength left a mark on everyone she met, whether it was at the bridge table, where she played with skill and joy, or in the everyday moments shared with neighbours, friends, and family.
She will be fondly remembered for her love of life, her sharp mind, and the gentle way she held those around her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense pride, and her bond with her sisters, Theresa and Betty, and close friends Helen and Julie, was enduring. “She was always a lady,” one tribute read, “and always had a smile for everyone.” Another remembered her simply as “kind, intelligent, and quietly brilliant.” Monica’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who loved her, her loss is deeply felt, but so too is the gratitude for a life so gracefully lived.
