Family and friends remember Margaret “Peggy” Drohan as a warm, spirited, and quietly remarkable woman whose presence brought joy, conversation, and kindness into the lives of all who knew her. At Drohan’s Garage in Fews, Kilmacthomas, she was more than part of the family business; she was the welcoming smile at the counter, the friendly voice in the queue, and the neighbour you could trust. One person recalled, “Seems like it was only the other day, but a long time ago now, when Peggy and Johnny would arrive at the counter to collect parts. Banter and craic would be guaranteed!! A genuine lady.” Peggy’s laughter, her devoted support, and her generous heart made every day interaction feel like family.
In her final days, she was surrounded by loved ones, and in the many messages of sympathy, her true character shines through. A friend wrote, “So sorry to hear of the passing of dearest Peggy… Heartfelt sympathy to Uncle John, Thresa, Francis, and all the family. May Peggy rest in peace.” Others spoke simply of her as a “lovely lady” and “gentle soul” whose memory will live on in the stories told, the doors she opened, and the company she kept. Her legacy is not only who she was, but also how she made others feel seen, welcome, and cared for. May her gentle soul rest in peace, and may the many lives she touched reflect that warmth in every tomorrow.
