Family and friends remember Gerard “Gerry” O’Connor, known affectionately to many as Nonner, as a kind soul with a sharp wit, a generous spirit, and a truly unforgettable presence. Gerry passed away on Saturday, 8 November 2025. Born in Queen Street, Tramore, and later living on Ballytruckle Road, Waterford City, he was predeceased by his beloved parents, Maureen and Kevin, and his brother Seán. Gerry’s beloved wife Carrie, along with his sisters Kay, Mary, and Noeline, his extended family, and countless friends, now carry the weight of this great loss. A celebration of Gerry’s life will take place in accordance with his wishes, followed by cremation at The Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy.
To those who knew him, Gerry was a man who left laughter in his wake and stories in every room he entered. One friend shared, “Nonner was a legend in his lifetime and his many friends will have plenty of memories and anecdotes to remember him by.” Another recalled, “He always had a smile on his face and was good for the jokes.” And from someone who knew him from years of working together: “He had some great tales to tell from all his travels.” From his early days in Tramore to his later years in Waterford, Gerry’s sense of humour, warmth, and unique way with words left a mark on everyone. Those who loved him will remember his voice, his laughter, and the way he lit up a room. Rest easy, Nonner. You were one of a kind.

Gerry will be eternally loved and missed by his wife Carrie, sisters Kay, Mary and Noeline and the extended O’Connor and Cullen families and friends.
The funeral cortege, which will leave Ballytruckle at 1pm for a celebration of Gerry’s life in Falconers Funeral Home, Riverstown, Tramore X91TW21 on Wednesday the 12th of November from 2pm to 2:30pm The funeral home will remain open until 4pm for family and friends to pay their respects to Gerry’s family. As per Gerry’s wishes, his cremation service will take place in The Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, at a later date.
