Family and friends remember Kathleen Dunphy as a gentle and graceful woman whose kindness touched everyone she met. Originally from Graiguenamanagh in County Kilkenny and later settled in Tramore, Kathleen created a warm and welcoming home in Cullencastle and then Meadowbrook. She was a loving wife to her late husband Nicky, a devoted mother to Siobhán, James, Catherine and her late son Pat, and a proud grandmother to Cormac, Killian and Lauren. Kathleen lived her life quietly but meaningfully, with deep care for others and great strength through life’s trials. She kept strong bonds with her brothers Mick and Bob, and was known for her hospitality, her compassion, and the way she made people feel at ease. She was a true matriarch whose love and presence shaped her family’s life in countless ways.
She is remembered with great affection in messages from those who knew her best. “Kathleen was such a kind and gentle woman. It was always a pleasure to meet her and I appreciated her hospitality on many occasions.” One wrote, “She was one lovely lady, a wonderful nanny. It was a pleasure to have met her on this journey in life.” Another shared, “Some great memories of Cullencastle back in the day. Thinking of you all.” A neighbour offered, “Kathleen was very special. May God bring the family comfort and peace in your time of loss.” And from a close friend came the words, “I always looked forward to seeing her in Cork. May God rest her lovely soul.” In life and in memory, Kathleen is cherished for her quiet dignity, her unfailing kindness, and the deep love she gave so freely. She is now reunited with Nicky and Pat, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
