Family and friends remember Sarah (Sally) Grace as a gracious, warm-hearted woman whose quiet strength and gentle humour left a lasting impression on all who knew her. A proud Waterford woman, Sally spent her early years in Maryville, Grange Park Avenue, where she was a treasured neighbour and friend. She later moved to St. Joseph’s Home in Ferrybank, where she was cared for with love and dignity until her peaceful passing. Throughout her life, Sally was known for her kindness, her fierce loyalty to those she loved, and her sharp intelligence, which she brought to her work at the National Bank in Waterford. Colleagues remember her as a natural mentor and friend, and those lucky enough to have worked alongside her still speak of her guidance and calm reassurance. She remained close to her sister Margaret and her brother Fr John, and was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews who felt her gentle presence throughout their lives.
She is remembered fondly in messages shared by those who knew her. “She was a wonderful neighbour and friend. She and mother visited me in Belgium where Sally’s French came to the fore. What a trip. Fond memories to cherish.” Another recalled, “Sally trained me in the National Bank in 1971. She was kind and understanding, always listening, while making sure I got things right.” A former colleague shared, “She kept us all on the straight and narrow in the 70s, always with a smile. Her friends in the skies will wonder what kept her.” One neighbour wrote, “Sally, you were always a lovely and kind neighbour,” while another offered simply, “She was a lovely lady. May she rest in peace.” Sally lived a life of quiet dignity, grounded in faith and kindness. Her gentle soul and strong spirit will be remembered with love by all who were lucky enough to know her.
