Family and friends remember Margaret “Rita” Power as a warm, gentle and deeply loved woman whose kindness, friendliness and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Late of Killea, Dunmore East, formerly of Castledermot, Co. Kildare and The Moorings, Waterford City, Rita built a life centred around family, friendship and community. A devoted wife to William, a loving mother to Bill and Victoria, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, Rita’s greatest happiness came from the people she loved most. Many remembered her as “an absolute lady” whose warmth and cheerful spirit never faded, while neighbours and friends spoke fondly of her smile, her kindness and the easy chats they shared with her over the years. In Castledermot she was remembered as “a big part of Castledermot,” someone who came from “a wonderful family,” while neighbours from The Moorings recalled “the banter” and the friendship she brought into everyday life.
The many tributes shared in Rita’s memory paint the picture of a woman whose gentle presence brought comfort and warmth wherever she went. Friends in Tramore Nursing Home remembered her as “such a lovely lady” who loved sharing stories and conversation, while many spoke with admiration of the devoted care and love shown to her by her daughter Victoria and family throughout her later years. One touching message remembered how Rita “always stopped for a little chat with a big smile,” while another simply described her as “a true lady.” Again and again, people spoke of her kindness, her friendliness and the quiet goodness that made her so easy to love and impossible to forget. Rita will be deeply missed by her beloved William, Bill, Victoria, her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her extended family, neighbours and many friends, but the warmth she shared, the memories she created and the love she gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
