Remembering the life of

Emma Flynn

The Croft, Clarinwood, Tramore, Waterford

Together we remember Emma, a little girl whose eleven years were filled with love, laughter, colour and courage. In the messages shared by those who knew her, Emma is remembered not only for how brave she was, but for who she was every day: a daughter, a sister, a friend, a classmate, a neighbour, a performer, a gymnast, and a child who brought happiness into the lives around her. Again and again, people remembered her as “always smiling,” “always happy,” “a ray of sunshine,” and “a beautiful girl with the biggest smile.” Those closest to her spoke of “the one person who was always there for me,” “the one person who always knew how to put a smile on my face,” and a girl with a “bubbly, sassy personality.” These words tell Emma’s story best: she was loved deeply, treasured by her friends, and unforgettable to everyone who had the joy of knowing her.

For Emma’s friends, classmates, neighbours and all the children who knew her, this may feel very hard to understand. It is okay to feel sad, to feel quiet, to feel confused, to cry, to laugh at a funny memory, or to talk about Emma again and again. Remembering someone is one way love keeps going. Every story told in school, every drawing, every rainbow, every unicorn, every smile that comes from thinking of her, and every kind thing done in her name becomes part of how Emma’s light is carried forward. From Holy Cross, stage school, Waterford Gymnastics, the Croft, Tramore and beyond, Emma was remembered as “kind, funny and confident with a heart of gold,” “a fantastic kid with a great personality,” “the sweetest and kindest girl,” and “truly one of a kind.”

To Emma’s mam Edwina, her dad Daryl, her sister Evie, her brothers Billy and Tommy, her grandparents, family and all who loved her, the messages shared across Tramore, Waterford and far beyond have become a circle of care around you all. They show that Emma’s life mattered deeply, that her friendships were real and precious, and that the love she gave will continue to connect the people who loved her most. In the days and years ahead, may Emma’s memory be something that gently keeps her family close, giving each of you a shared place to return to when you need to feel near her. A life does not have to be long to leave something beautiful behind, and Emma has left love everywhere.
