Family and friends remember Gerard Morris as a man whose humour, warmth, and good heart left an impression wherever he went. Originally from Hill Street in Wexford and later at home in Waterford City, Gerard was one of life’s true characters. His easy laugh, quick wit, and natural kindness drew people in, and there was always a story or a joke waiting when he was around. A proud Wexford man, loyal Leeds supporter, and great company, he brought people together with a lightness that only genuine souls possess. Whether sharing a chat on the Cork Road, cycling with friends, or catching up with neighbours, he had a way of making every moment feel brighter. As one friend recalled, “He was a gent and was never short of a word and always a smile.”
He leaves behind his beloved wife Bernie, his children Stephen and Aoife, and his adored grandchildren, Chloe, Fionn, and Íde. Gerard’s family and friends will remember him not only for his humour and love of sport, but for his generosity, loyalty, and spirit. As shared, “He was a legend, forever cracking jokes and having a jeer—what a privilege to have had a best friend as a dad.” Another remembered, “He was always great company and a great sport. A true gentleman who will be sadly missed.” Gerard lived with heart, worked hard, and was always ready to help others, qualities that earned him the deep respect and affection of all who knew him. Taken far too soon, his memory will live on in the laughter he shared, the friendships he built, and the love that surrounded him every day. May his gentle soul rest peacefully.
