Family and friends remember Joan Breslin as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, known for her warmth, kindness and generous spirit. A native of Waterford City and later a beloved figure in Tramore, Joan’s days in Fashion Fabrics on Mayors Walk remain fondly remembered by many. She was gifted with a unique flair for fabric and a personal touch that left customers feeling like friends. Whether guiding someone through their very first sewing project or instinctively picking out the perfect fabric, thread and buttons to match, she always took the time to make it just right. Her gentle humour, quiet strength and lifelong love of people were woven into everything she did, and her sudden passing has left a deep sadness across the community.
Her husband Michael, her sons Donal and Michael Jnr, and her adored grandchildren were the heart of her world. Her home was a place of kindness and warmth, where neighbours were greeted with a smile and a wave. “She always gave a wave out of the car when you passed her,” wrote one neighbour. Another recalled, “She had a good and honourable word for all.” And a customer shared, “She had everything you needed for sewing, and knew the measurements off by heart. She was a lady.” These are just glimpses into a life well lived. Joan gave so much and asked for little. She will be remembered not only as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, but as a true part of the Waterford community. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she gave so generously in life.
