Family and friends remember Laura Kontautaite as a loving wife, devoted mother and gentle soul whose warmth touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Late of Tir Connell Avenue in Waterford City and formerly of Lithuania, Laura built a life centred on love, family and kindness, and leaves behind a deep and heartbreaking absence for her beloved husband Ziggy, her cherished children Matas, Beata and Nojus, her loving mother Angela, her sisters and all who held her close. One friend remembered Laura as “a lovely person and very open to all people around,” while another spoke of how she had “one of very rare smile” that stayed with people long after meeting her, a smile that reflected the warmth, welcome and goodness she carried so naturally. She was also remembered simply and beautifully as “a great friend” and “a lovely lady,” words that speak quietly but powerfully of the life she lived and the love she gave.
Above all, Laura’s greatest joy was her family, and the love she poured into her children was felt deeply by all who knew her. One heartfelt message recalled how she was “so proud of you Nojus,” while many sent love to Beata and Matas, remembering with tenderness the strong, caring mother at the centre of their lives. Another tribute captured her perfectly in just two words, “A lady,” a simple phrase filled with respect, admiration and affection. Though her passing brings profound sorrow, Laura’s kindness, her open heart, her beautiful smile and the love she gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of her family, her friends, her neighbours and the wider community that was better for having known her.
