Family and friends remember Myles Halley as a man of quiet dignity, warmth and gentle presence, someone who was deeply respected and genuinely liked by all who knew him. Late of Church Road and formerly of Castletown, Tramore, Myles was a devoted husband to Anne and a proud father to Geraldine, James, Joan, Myles and John, whose lives were shaped by his steady guidance and kindness. He was a loving grandfather to Tim, Niall, Christopher, Hannah, Peter, Shane, Caoimhe, Evan, Clíodhna and Kate, taking great pride in each of them and the lives they were building. Whether through time spent with family, evenings playing bridge or the simple rhythm of daily life in his community, Myles was known for his calm nature, thoughtful conversation and the ease with which he connected with others. Many remember him simply and sincerely as “a gentleman,” a man whose presence brought comfort and quiet reassurance.
The many tributes shared in Myles’ memory reflect a life lived with kindness, respect and genuine friendship. Friends recall “the pleasure of his company at Bridge,” while others speak of “many enjoyable Bridge Nights” that brought laughter and companionship over the years. Neighbours remember him as “a most pleasant and courteous neighbour,” someone who was always welcoming and easy to meet. One message perhaps captures him best, describing him as “a real gentleman,” a sentiment echoed again and again by those who knew him. Through these memories, Myles will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a trusted friend and neighbour, and a man whose quiet goodness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
