Family and friends remember Oliver O’Reilly as a true gentleman, whose kindness and warmth were felt by everyone he met. From his years welcoming guests at the Ardree Hotel, where colleagues agree he was entirely dedicated to serving each customer with generosity, to the many afternoons he spent catching up over a cup of tea or a meal with neighbours, Oliver’s attentive nature made everyone feel special. Whether it was offering career advice to former co-workers or simply brightening a friend’s day with his calm presence, Oliver’s gracious spirit left a lasting impression on all.
Above all, Oliver’s greatest pride lay in his family. He adored watching his children and grandchildren grow, quietly cheering them on at every stage, often recalling stories of family gatherings and the joy they brought him. Friends recall how he delighted in reconnecting with old Ardree Hotel colleagues, swapping memories that stretched back decades. His generosity went well beyond his own home: local business owners still speak fondly of how Oliver made their establishments feel like part of his own family. As we remember him, we celebrate a life lived with unwavering kindness, heartfelt compassion, and a legacy of hospitality that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.
