Family and friends remember Paddy Power as a hardworking and good-natured man whose life was built around family, friendship and community. Late of Westown in Tramore and well known through many years of work with Paddy Power Plumbing and Heating and earlier with P.J. Matthews, he earned the respect of colleagues, neighbours and customers alike for his reliability, skill and straightforward way of dealing with people. Predeceased by his beloved parents and by his four brothers and four sisters, Paddy remained deeply devoted to the family that meant everything to him. His wife Renee and his children Ciarán, Austin and Lynda were the centre of his world, and he took great pride in his grandchildren Ellen, Aisling, Noah and Erin. Those who knew him best remember a man who worked hard, valued loyalty and friendship, and whose easy conversation and warm humour made him a familiar and welcome presence around Westown and the wider Tramore community.
The many tributes shared in his memory reflect the respect and affection he earned throughout his life. One message described him simply as “a pure gentleman.” Another remembered that “he was always an absolute gentleman to deal with.” Those who knew him well also spoke of his lively spirit, calling him “a great exuberant man of fun and character.” Others remembered the quiet kindness that defined him, saying “he always had a gentle smile,” while one tribute captured the lasting impression he left on people by describing him as “an honourable and decent man whose word was his bond.” Through these memories Paddy will be remembered with warmth by all who knew him, a man whose honesty, humour and generosity of spirit left a lasting mark on his family, neighbours and friends.
