Family and friends remember Paschal O’Brien as the kind of man whose presence brought comfort and cheer to every place he entered. Whether trading gentle banter with the nursing staff in The Oak Ward at University Hospital Waterford or sharing a quiet moment with Imelda in Earl’s Court, his warmth and good humour were constant. Raised in New Ross, Paschal carried with him the generous spirit of his hometown, greeting every neighbour on Dunmore Road and never hesitating to lend a hand or an encouraging word when it was needed most. His sharp wit and easy laugh made him a favourite among colleagues and friends alike, and his love of family threaded through every story he told of his brothers Ultan, Shane and Fredric, and his beloved sister Siobhán.
At home, Paschal’s greatest pride was in the life he built with Imelda, his best friend and partner of many years. Together they celebrated countless milestones, weddings, christenings, quiet Sunday breakfasts, always with Paschal’s gentle humour at the heart of the gathering. To his nieces and nephews, he was the uncle who made even the simplest outings feel like adventures; to his extended family, he was the steady anchor whose quiet strength and thoughtful support you could always rely on. As we remember Paschal today, let us honour him by offering kindness as freely as he did, by listening with the same patient ear, and by carrying forward his generous spirit in our own lives. May his soul rest in peace, and may the love he shared continue to light our days.
