Family and friends remember Patricia Sylvia Jean Byrne as a kind, compassionate and joyful woman whose warmth, humour and curiosity made her a pleasure to know. Late of Church Road, Tramore and formerly of Rutland and Stamford in England, Patricia was deeply loved by Caroline, Diana, Paul, her grandson Charlie, her sisters Betty and Mary, her son-in-law Paddy, her wider family, neighbours and many friends. She was remembered as “a lovely person, always cheerful and amusing,” someone who “loved life and her family,” and a lady with a wonderful sense of humour who brought colour and kindness into the lives of others.
Patricia is remembered through the many small but meaningful ways she connected with people: chats at the Wednesday lectures in the Medieval Museum, kind and patient conversations while shopping for timber, and the fond memories of helping to set up a Special Olympics swimming group for young people in Tramore. A neighbour captured her beautifully as “a wonderful and kind neighbour with an exceptional and enquiring mind,” adding how dearly her chats would be missed. These memories reflect a woman of intelligence, humour, compassion and character, whose family’s wish for colourful clothing feels like a fitting celebration of the joy she carried through life. May Caroline, Diana, Paul, Charlie and all Patricia’s family find comfort in knowing how warmly she was loved, how fondly she will be remembered, and how peacefully she now rests.
