Family and friends remember Peter Martin as a warm, hardworking and deeply respected man whose kindness, humour and gentle nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Late of Sweetbriar Park, Tramore, and formerly of Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, Peter built a life centred around family, friendship and community. He was a devoted husband to Mary Rose, a proud father to Kim, Lindsey and Stuart, and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather whose family brought enormous joy and pride to his life. Many remembered Peter as “a lovely man to meet at any time,” while others described him as “a true gentleman” whose smile, warmth and easy conversation brightened every encounter. Whether sharing stories with neighbours, catching up with friends, enjoying holidays with family or simply stopping for a chat around Tramore, Peter had a natural way of making people feel comfortable, welcome and valued.
The many tributes shared in Peter’s memory speak of a man whose generosity and guidance quietly shaped the lives of so many around him. One message remembered him as “not only a boss, but a father figure,” while another spoke of “many a joke and a laugh” shared in his company over the years. Friends recalled “many great times on holidays which will never be forgotten,” and neighbours remembered “always a smile when you’d meet him with Mary Rose.” Peter was especially respected for the encouragement and mentorship he gave to younger colleagues through his years with Martin Glass, where his patience, knowledge and decency earned enormous admiration. These memories paint the picture of a man who lived with humility, loyalty and heart, and whose quiet goodness never went unnoticed. Peter will be deeply missed by his beloved Mary Rose, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends, but the warmth he shared, the laughter he brought and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
