Family and friends remember Tom Creedon, late of Pine Court in Waterford and formerly of Cork City, with admiration, affection and deep gratitude. A proud Cork man who made Waterford his home, Tom dedicated his life to public service, not only in the classroom where he inspired countless students at WCFE and the CTI, but also on the national stage, where he stood as a committed trade unionist, tireless in his advocacy for fairness and justice. A man of great principle, Tom gave decades of service to the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI), earning the respect of colleagues far and wide who knew him as “one of the good guys.”
At home, he was the beloved husband of Eileen and a devoted father to Tom and Dan. His intelligence, wit, and quiet strength shaped the lives around him, and his kindness extended far beyond his family. He was known for his love of learning, his deep appreciation of rugby, and his ability to make others feel heard and valued, whether at a union conference, during thoughtful chats in Geoffs, or browsing in the Book Centre. As one friend put it, “Tom inspired us to be better, and he will never be forgotten.” Another wrote, “He had a fine legal mind, and directed it to the betterment of others rather than himself.” Tom’s family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported them and especially invites those who knew him to celebrate his life with love and appreciation.
